Discount Pricebooks
Automatically Managing Discount Pricebooks
BES States and territories can opt-in to a feature which assists them in automatically managing their discount pricebooks.
To enable this feature please contact the National Salesforce helpdesk.
Overview
The discount pricebook sync operates on an hourly schedule and adds, deactivates or updates pricing for pricebook entries that exist in 'discount' pricebooks, based on changes to a state's default pricebook.
When a new product is added to the state's default pricebook, a discounted version is added to all discount pricebooks belonging to that state.
When a product is deactivated in the state's default pricebook, the product is deactivated in the state's discount pricebooks.
Once a product has been added to a state's discount pricebook, it can be flagged as 'exclude from pricing automation' which will prevent the price from being updated and the entry from being automatically reactivated if it is ever deactivated.
Setting up a discount pricebook
To create a discount pricebook follow the steps for creating a pricebook in your state and then update the following fields:
- Parent Pricebook: {Choose your state's default pricebook}
- Discount Percentage: {Enter the discount percentage as a number (e.g. 10 for 10%}
Excluding a specific product from automatic updates
In order to remove a specific product from automatic updates you must check the 'Exclude from pricing automation' on the pricebook entry.
Navigate to the product's page, go to the related tab and look for the pricebook entry list.
On the relevant pricebook entry, select the dropdown and then 'view'.
Select the pencil icon next to the 'Exclude From Pricing Automation' field, check the box and save the record.
Once saved, the price for this product in this pricebook will not be automatically updated. If the product is deactivated in the state's standard pricebook, it will still be deactivated from the discount pricebook. If an inactive product is reactivated in the state default pricebook and the product already exists but is inactive and excluded in a discount pricebook, it will not be reactivated, in those cases the default entry must be manually reactivated.
