On almost any object in salesforce there is options for list views, these will typically default to “Recently viewed”. A sample from contacts is here:

This layout is consistent for most objects, and you can almost always look top left to see your current list view.

Go to the object you are wishing to alter the list view of:

Note: Depending on your top bar, you may or may not have cases in the top bar, it directs to the same place.

Note: List views will be in EITHER your Recent list views or all other list views – not both

Note 2: Some list views may not be visible with your profile, this is object and permissions specific and not necessarily true in all circumstances.

In order to change the default view when you open an object you will need to pin the list view this can be actioned by selecting the pin:
