Completing a Search
General search for a record
This is a guide detailing how to search for records. In order to use this guide you will need to know both what you are searching for and also what kind of record it is.
This specific guide will demonstrate searching for a specific contact, however the principles are the same regardless of the object.
Use the main search bar
Select the main search bar. This can be used from anywhere in Salesforce to find any records in salesforce. Enter relevant details you are searching for
- Name of record
- Unique identifiers (ie. USI)
The search will only function properly with at least 3 characters entered.
Note: you cannot enter symbols including dates or dollar values, the search function will not work properly
Select the search icon
Assuming the record does not appear in the shortlist, then you will select the following icon, this will take you to the full search list.

Refine the search with additional information
Add partial or full details to narrow down the list.

- E-Mail Domain (@hotmail.com.au)
- Suburb, some other part of the address
- USI
