What are duplicate records?

Duplicate records are where the same Contact or organisations information is in the system multiple times and we did not intend it to be.

How do we identify duplicate records?

Salesforce has powerful tools that will allow salesforce administrators to define criteria that may indicate a duplicate record and proactively alert users to this fact.

At the top of every Contact and Account record on the related tab you will see a section relating to potential duplicates:

 

This system does have limitations, specifically it can only find potential duplicates to the extent that administrators have defined, this means users should be vigilant.

In the event you find duplicate records, please refer them to the nominated users for them to review and either de-duplicate or mark as different organisations.
