Salesforce Calendar - Creating Events and Adding a separate Calendar

All platform users have access to their own Salesforce calendar, which can be accessed via the App launcher or from their Tabs bar as shown below.

The calendar can be used for multiple reasons, e.g. adding, amending & creating events such as customer meetings or restocking events.

Creating Events from a Calendar

You can create an event directly from your calendar, which can be related to any object record within Salesforce which you have access to - e.g. an account, contact, service, lead, opportunity, etc.

  1. Click on the Calendar tab:

2. Click on New Event from the top-right corner of the calendar:

3. Populate the fields as required - (the fields with an asterisk are required info as a minimum) and then click Save.

You can select which object (e.g. an account, contact, service) you want the event to be related to by clicking on the drop-down arrow on the Related To box:

Your newly created event is now visible from your calendar:

By clicking on the event, you can edit it and navigate to the relevant record (e.g. to the related account) directly from the calendar.

Creating a New / Separate Calendar

Example - Creating a calendar to have an overview of your team's service jobs. A calendar is created by the Product Manager to see where each agent is delivering restock services and when.

1. Click on the cog icon next to 'My Calendar' and select New Calendar

2. Select the object (area) where the relevant information will be pulled from for the calendar events. In this example, it will be Services and then click Next:

3. After clicking Next, select the fields / info to be pulled into the calendar entry, including the filter-criteria:

If you'd a like to create multiple calendars - e.g. one calendar for each service agent, you'll need to first create a list-view under the 'Services' tab for each service agent; whereby the list-view filter criteria will be: 'Assigned To' <name of agent>.

Once you've done that, you can then carry out Step 4 (above) and where it says 'Apply a Filter', select the relevant service agent list-view you previously created.
