Member Statuses
St John employs the Member Status record in Salesforce to track volunteer activity across its member base. This record maintains a history of each member's affiliation with St John. Every member has one primary member status that reflects their true state, even if contradictory information exists elsewhere.
The Member Status record captures essential information such as the member's status (e.g., Active, Inactive), primary team, rank, role, and the types of volunteering or staff activities they undertake for St John. Specific rules govern the meaning of each status, which can be found in the member status map. Generally, anyone engaged in any activity for St John, whether paid, operational, or committee-related, is considered an active member. Members who no longer perform any duties should be marked as retired, resigned, or inactive.
To update a member's Member Status with new volunteering details, use the "Update Member Status" button on the Contact record. For further information on the update member status screen, consult the Updating a Member’s Status, Team, Role, Rank or Activity section of the guide.
