Managing Group Memberships (Associate memberships to teams or committees)

In St John, some members may have associate memberships to other teams. They might be acting in a temporary role, or just a regular part of the team. A member’s primary team will be automatically added as a team membership, so we don’t have to manage that. But if we want to create a membership to an associate team or to a committee we can do so using the following steps:

Steps - Creating an associate team membership

1. Navigate to the member’s contact record and select the related tab

2. Scroll down until you see the “Group Memberships” section.

3. To create an associate membership with a team, we use the “New Team Membership” button.

Select the button and fill in the required information.

If this associate membership is only temporary, and we know when it will end. We can set the expected end date and tick the “End Automatically” box.

Unlike with their primary team, selecting a leadership role for an associate membership won’t change the primary leader of the team.

Once you’ve set the information select “Save”

Steps - Creating a committee membership

1. Navigate to the member’s contact record and select the related tab

2. Scroll down until you see the “Group Memberships” section.

3. To create an associate membership with a team, we use the “New Committee Membership” button.

Select the button and fill in the required information.

If this committee membership has an end date, we can set the expected end date and tick the “End Automatically” box.

Once you’ve set the information select “Save”

Manually Ending a Membership

To manually end a membership, navigate to the group membership record and uncheck the "Active" box.

This is only possible to perform for manually created memberships and will lock the record.
In order to re-activate a membership you must create a new membership record.
