St John members participate in a wide range of activities, from volunteering in multiple operational teams to assisting in community events. To track the various groups a member belongs to, we use the Group Membership object in Salesforce.

There are two main types of Group Membership objects: Team Memberships and Committee Memberships. Team Memberships track primary and associate memberships to different teams within St John. For example, a member might primarily belong to the Unley team but also help out at Prospect, resulting in two group memberships. Committee Memberships record a member's involvement in temporary teams or committees, such as planning committees or even the board.

Some memberships are flagged as "Calculated" and cannot be edited. These are automatically created by the system based on the contact's Member Status information, such as their primary team or role.
