Creating a Composite Course
- A composite course can be created from both public and industry courses.
- Multiple composites can be linked to a single parent course.
Complete this procedure to create a composite course inside an existing standard training course.
Composite courses can only be created from within an existing standard course. The composite course is a 'subset' of the parent course.
Example 1:
Parent course: Provide First Aid
Composite course: Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Example 2:
Parent course: Remote Area First Aid
Composite course: Provide First Aid
On creation of the composite course, the remaining available seats in the parent course will automatically be adjusted based on the number reserved for the composite.
1. Search for parent course
Search for the parent course by entering the name of the course in the search field at the top of the screen and selecting from the options available.
The Course screen of the parent course is displayed.
2. Check seat availability
In the Course screen of the parent course, scroll down to the Course Attendance section, and check the availability in the Remaining Spots field.
3. Create composite course
Click the Create Composite Course button at the top of the screen.
The Create Composite Course popup is displayed.
Complete the following fields:
- Course Name: Name is auto filled and should not be altered, other automation relies on this formatting.
- Product: Remove the parent product name and select the name of the composite product. Important: Ensure you select the correct version of the product.
- Capacity: Enter the number of participants who will attend the composite course.
Click Save. You are returned to the Course screen of the parent course.
4. Confirm composite course creation
To confirm your composite course has been created correctly, scroll down to the Course Attendance section and check the following fields:
Composite Capacity: This should reflect the number of participants entered in the Capacity field in the previous step.
Remaining Spots: Confirm that the remaining spots have decreased by the number of composite course participants.
5. Edit composite course date and time
By default a composite course will select the same start / end times of the parent course.
In the Related List Quick Links section (top of the screen), click on Related Courses.
The Related Courses screen displays the composite course.
Select the composite course you just created. The Course screen for the composite course is displayed. Note that the status is 'Pending'.
Edit the Course Start Date and Course End Date as required, and click Save.
6. Update Status to 'Open' if required
If you wish to make this course available on the website, set the Status to 'Open' and click Save. Otherwise, leave it as 'Pending'.
