Using Chatter to Upload Course Rolls
Using Chatter
This guide instructs trainers how to upload a completed course roll in Salesforce, using Chatter. This is especially helpful if the trainer is not able to physically bring a completed course roll into the training office (e.g. they work remotely).
Making the Course Roll a File / Attachment
- Firstly, the trainer should ensure they have the course roll available as a file on their device where they'll log into Salesforce from (laptop, desktop PC, etc).
- An example of how to do this, is to take a photo of the course roll using a Smart phone and emailing it directly from the phone to an (their) email address which is accessible on the device.
- Open the email on your desktop / laptop device and save the course roll attachment as a file (e.g. on your Desktop).
Navigate to the Chatter window on a Course
The trainer should then log into Salesforce and navigate to the course record where they want to upload the completed course roll.
Click on the Chatter tab as shown below:
Chatter Message Content
Enter the message required to accompany the course roll - e.g. "please see attached":
a: Write your post in the textbox
b: Use the icons in this toolbar to change the format and style of your text, add a photo and link.
c: Click on the paperclip to attach files to the Chatter (e.g. the completed course roll, previously emailed, downloaded and saved to your device). You can attach up to 10 files.
How to mention someone in a post
You'll need to make the training manager / administration team aware that there is a completed course roll attached to your message.
In order to do this, type @ then their name (it's important not to leave a space between @ and their name).
Names will appear as an autofill menu. Select their name and continue typing the message.
Delete a post
After posting you realised that you have made a mistake.
Click on the drop down arrow
Select Delete
