Add Product Category

Product categories are displayed as PRODUCT TYPES in the Online Shop, which enables filtering of the products by type.

Each product is assigned one or more product categories.

1. Add product category

In the Manage menu, select Structure > Taxonomy > Product Categories.

The list of Product Categories is displayed.

Click the Add term button. The Add term page is displayed.

Complete the fields in the table below.

Field  Action
Name Enter a name for the new category.
Description Leave blank.
RELATIONS If you wish to make this a sub-category of an existing product category, click on RELATIONS and select a category in the Parent terms field.
Example:
  • AED Cabinets (Parent category)
    • Defib Cabinets (Child category)
SIMPLE XML SITEMAP Do not edit
URL alias Leave blank.

2. Save

Do you want to publish the product category immediately?

  • If yes, leave the Published checkbox ticked.
  • If no, untick the Published checkbox.

Click the Save button.

Note: The product category will not appear in the Online Shop until it is selected as a category for one or more products.
